The Gauntlet is a well-known ride in the North Georgia Mountains. We will be riding an altered version of The Gauntlet to avoid towns, major highways, and the possibility of traffic congestion. The Gauntlet ride offers some scenic mountain backroads, as well as some of the most challenging twisties the area has to offer. There will be a rest and lunch stop at the world-famous Two Wheels of Suches (TWS) Motorcycle Resort. TWS is opening specifically to provide lunch for our ride. Enjoy lunch or just relax by the creekside. Fuel is available near TWS in the tiny mountain town of Suches. After lunch, the ride will continue on to include "The Wolf" also known as Wolf Pen Gap Road and GA Hwy 180. The Wolf, being approximately 9 miles, has been called Georgia's Dragon because of its twisty curves and switchbacks. After The Wolf, the ride will turn south on US Hwy 129 and travel down "Blood Mountain" back to the Unicoi Lodge. Anyone not wanting to ride The Wolf or Blood Mountain can choose a less challenging route back.
